Downtown Denver is a pretty cool place. It reminded me a little bit of our 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, but with less large retail chains and more offices nearby. It was always be pretty busy, especially during lunch and dinner. We decided to take a stroll and explore the street a bit before we found dinner.

The sun was setting so all the street lamps were starting to turn on. Look at how clean the sidewalks and streets were! After checking out a few food options, we decided to try out Mellow Mushroom. We don’t have any Mellow Mushrooms here in California so I was excited to try it out. The restaurant had a very relaxed vibe, and the menu had some cool options. I would say that it’s kind of a hipster pizza place with unique pizza combinations, gluten-free options, and I loved that they had whole wheat pizza crust.
Spinach Artichoke Dip – Fresh sauteed spinach blended with artichokes, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses in a creamy sauce topped with shaved Parmesan. Served with garlic toasts. Warm and cheesy dip scooped up with crunchy garlic bread. Need I say more? :D
Philosopher’s Pie – Olive oil and a garlic base, topped with grilled steak, Portobello mushroom, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, Provolone, feta, and mozzarella cheese all on a crispy and chewy whole wheat crust. This was so delicious and a nice change from the usual red pizza sauce.
Key Lime Pie – Tart and fresh key lime custard on a graham cracker crust with lots of whipped cream. We originally didn’t want to order dessert, but after watching the hockey game at the bar for awhile… it was dessert time.
The atmosphere was very cool and we ended up staying there another 40 minutes after our meal just to watch the game. There were lots of local craft beer options (and I mean LOTS) and flat screens everywhere by the bar. I bet when a local game is on it gets packed. After high-fiving some people cause their team won, we headed back to our hotel.
