While we were in Denver we knew that we had to try some local specialties, and Biker Jim’s Gourmet Dogs came highly recommended by the people we talked to. They have a restaurant, but the weather was so nice we wanted to checkout their food cart instead.
On Wednesdays their menu changes slightly. That day they featured Pheasant Sausage, Hungarian Sausage, and their Bosna Brat.
Elk Jalapeno Cheddar Brat – The Elk was raised on reserves in Colorado and prepared locally. Loved the bits of jalapenos and cheddar cheese found throughout the dog. It was definitely spicy, but I would rate it at a medium. This is the most popular dog sold on the cart and we were glad we tried it.
Alaska Reindeer Sausage – This was the hot dog that started the Biker Jim’s revolution. It was meaty without being too gamey, and had a great smokey and rich taste. It had such good flavors that we opted to not put any condiments on it at all. It was accompanied by a slice of cream cheese, grilled onions, and was definitely the favorite of the two we ordered.
Loved the hot dogs at the cart and the next time we are there, we’ll definitely stop by the restaurant. Which is by the way, the highest rated restaurant in Denver on Yelp! Congratulations Biker Jim :D
